And then there were 4...

Meet Darius Weld Huffaker.

This little cutie decided that he couldn't wait any longer to join our family and came at 38 weeks on August 24th. That so happened to be a Monday (go figure).

I went in for my routine check up and went straight to the hospital from there.  After being in active labor for 7 hours and about 5 minutes of pushing, Darius arrived.

A couple days prior, Brandon's mom, Marilyn, and his sister, Darcie, arrived in town because Darcie was starting college at BYU in Provo.

We had them over for dinner Sunday evening and Darcie had told me to not go into labor until after Wednesday when she got back from a camping trip.  We all know how that turned out.

It all happened at an opportune time though- Marilyn was here to watch Giselle which was a HUGE blessing. There weren't too many people that Giselle was comfortable with (even though most of my extended family lives in the area) and my mom wasn't in any physical condition to keep up with an extremely active 1 year old.

The only non-opportune thing about this timing was that Brandon had just started his new job a week prior.  But hey, it all worked out and his manager was very understanding.

The first month of Darius's life was a  bit rocky.  He had extreme jaundice and was almost hospitalized for it. Luckily there was some improvement on his numbers and so he was able to stay out of the hospital.  I was able to nurse him for that first month but then there was a big issue with the quality and supply of my milk. So I switched him to sensitive formula (due to his bad reflux) and that combined with medication to help his reflux he started gaining weight and growing like he needed to.

I'm so grateful that I've been blessed with 2 adorable children.  Yes, they are closer together than I would've liked but I wouldn't trade it for anything :)

5th move in the last 3 years

The title pretty much speaks for itself.

Two weeks before Brandon graduated we made the decision that we were moving to Utah at the end of July.  We didn't have a place to live and we weren't moving to a job. But we knew that this was the right decision for our little family.

The weekend before graduation, Giselle and I went to Utah to look for housing and within 48 hours of us arriving I found us an apartment. Much to my pleasure and excitement it was the apartment right above where my mom lived! After 5 years of not being in close proximity to my mom, we were finally able to be neighbors. We both were crying tears of joy and our excitement levels went through the roof!

Once Giselle and I got back to Rexburg, I started to blitz the apartment.  We sold all our furniture except our bed, kitchen table/chairs, the crib, and our glider.  We also made about 6 trips to D.I. getting rid of things that we no longer needed/wouldn't have space for in our new place.

After graduation, we were in high gear to get our belongings packed up, contract sold, and get our affairs in Rexburg in order.

Can I also say that I was 34-35 weeks pregnant when we moved??

We left town the 31st of July and it took us 6 hours to make the trip from Rexburg to Pleasant Grove- a trip that normally takes about 4 hours.  We weren't able to go over 55 miles an hour with the trailer.  Brandon drove our Expedition with the trailer attached and I drove our Ranger pickup.  Doc wouldn't let me drive a vehicle with a trailer attached. As it was, with all the preterm contractions I was having Doc was only comfortable with me making that drive because it was just to Utah. I quote, "There's lots of hospitals in between here and there so if you do in fact go into labor you and the baby will be okay."

This is what our trailer looked like. The back of the pickup and the back of the Expedition were also packed to the hilt.  We felt REALLY proud of ourselves that we were able to get the bulk of a two bedroom apartment into a small trailer.

We got our belongings into our apartment August 1st and it took us a couple weeks to get completely moved in. I was only able to do 2 hours of unpacking at a time before I would need to sit down and not do anything for awhile because of the contractions.

Among the business of trying to get our new home put together before baby #2 arrived, Brandon was putting in applications all over Utah County.  He finally landed a job with a local Big Lots that's just a couple minutes down the road from us.

We've only lived here for a few months but we love it.  But I also know that this move is NOT the last one.  But I am hoping that we'll be at a point career wise where we'll be able to settle down and start planting our roots and have a new "hometown."
